Edu-tainment workshops

It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you the results of our efforts on the ‘Introduction to Animation and its expressive qualities workshop’. A Multi Sensory learning experience where young creative people from Mayo got the chance to express their craft and ingenuity through the medium of Animation and Film.

Please enjoy a sample of their work. It is hot off the screen at a recent showing for the friends and family of Western Care at the County Cinema in Castlebar, Co Mayo. (no less!) Where another short live action comedy “the Art Hiest” produced by the same intrepid bunch premiered also!

It was a great day with so much fun had to top of the end of our Animation Journey… for now! Enjoy

“This type of Animation is great for groups who want to focus primarily on movement without having had a drawing background”

Fabien Earlinghauser, Head of Animation- The Cartoon Saloon.

‘the staff and management of Count me In were extremely pleased with the content and delivery of the programme and the benefits and positive outcomes to the young people who are involved with the group’

Nessa Cosgrave- Co Ordinator with Msletb.

‘Count me in’ is an initiative of Western Care focused on developing the communication skills of young people in the West. In consultation with Management and Facilitators, we designed a course where task oriented learning and class participation were the focus. Through discussion on the various stimuli played- video and audio we fostered in the Learners the desire to participate and make their responses known.

With a focus on achieving quantifiable results we were able to grow in courage when taking on new skill sets. Through shared experience we were able to talk about communication itself, the many ways of relating to one another in the search for a meaning full language with which to convey our experience.

It was with great personal pleasure that I had had the occasion to soundtrack the course with world music, a variety of drones and rhythms like Salsa, Bossa Bova, the Bodhran and Cajon beats and in particular to have had such local talent as Conor Walsh and Seamus Fogarty to reference.

Conor Walsh.

Seamus Fogarty

Having first hand experience of growing up as a creative in a rural area, I attempted to inspire in the Learners the benefit of finding their fellow creatives and developing a mutually supportive network where creative partnerships and meaningful play can yield some powerful results.

This has been an amazing learning experience and one that I’ve really enjoyed. I look forward to hosting more learning opportunities in the future. Should you or your network be interested in hosting a ten week workshop for Adult Learners let me know at

Till then..

To quote one amazing Artist on the course

“The only limit is your Imagination!
