Production Information.
I tried out for and won this position (24 artists submitted tests) having previously met with Art Director Patrice Suau to view art work for this project.
My traditional painting experience allowed me to adopt to his Magic Realist style late in the project.
I had one week to view, practice and train up with Patrice before he took off on holiday for a month (!) and although neither of us spoke the others language fluently the primacy of image making and similar influence from European, Russian and Chinese Impressionism along with an 80 page copy book full of hand written notes allowed me to adopt to this extremely process heavy procedure.
Initially hired for just one month I was asked to continue for another month and a half in order to help finalize the project.
I would go on to be hired by Co-Producers Studio 352 in Luxembourg on subsequent features.
I learned so much hardcore photoshop techniques on this film and credit my conversations with Patrice for sending me outdoors to paint in oils. He continues to be a friend and mentor for my Plein Air practice.
